- Novice Monk: [Curiously] Master! Is there truly a destiny in this world where people are destined to meet?
- Master: Meeting someone isn’t always a matter of fate.
- Novice Monk: [Perplexed] Why not?
- Master: An encounter can be defined in two ways: one is fate, the other is destiny. In this world, some lives are inescapable. Sometimes, both fate and destiny come together in a single person. That person becomes both the destined connection and the unavoidable challenge in your life.
- Master: Fate brings you together with certain people, while destiny weaves the path that you walk with them. You may find yourself bound to a person by both forces—someone who is meant to cross your life’s journey and also someone who will present the greatest trials … But remember, the presence of such a person is not always easy. Sometimes, these encounters challenge us deeply, testing our patience, our growth, and our understanding of the world.
- Novice Monk: So, are these people meant to help us grow, even if they cause us difficulty?
- Master: Yes. They are part of the larger design of life, whether they bring comfort or challenge. Fate and destiny work together to shape who we become, through both the connections we cherish and the lessons we endure. In the end, it’s not just about the meeting—it’s about what you do with it. How you face the challenges, how you embrace the connections, and how you learn from both.
- Novice Monk: I see. It’s not just about being destined to meet, but also how we walk that path once we do.
